How can I Help?

I'm Morven — an occupational therapist with over thirty years of experience, based in East Lothian. My work is about helping people rebuild confidence, restore function, and reconnect with the activities that make life feel like theirs again.

Different people need different routes to get there, so I offer a range of approaches. Some clients come for a single piece of practical OT advice. Others work with me over months, combining therapy sessions with time in the company of horses, or a weekly class. If you're not sure what you need, that's completely normal — get in touch and we'll work it out together.

Equine Facilitated Therapy

A unique way of combining the therapeutic power of horses with occupational therapy training.

I qualified as an Equine Facilitated Therapist in 2023, and it's become one of the most rewarding parts of my practice. Working alongside horses — often from the ground, with no riding experience needed — can reach people that talking-based approaches don't.

Horses respond honestly to what's actually happening in you rather than what you're saying, which makes them remarkable partners for building emotional regulation, confidence, and self-awareness. Sessions are particularly valuable for people who haven't got what they needed from more traditional approaches.

I'm a member of Equine Assisted Occupational Therapy UK (EAOT-UK).

Chair Based Movement & Meditation

Gentle, accessible sessions designed to build calm and connection.

These classes combine slow, mindful movement with breath awareness and meditation. They were designed for people who want to feel steadier in body and mind but who may not be able to take part in a standard exercise class — and every session is adapted to the people in the room.

Mondays, 4:00–5:00pm, Gullane Recreation Hall · £5 per class, or 6 for the price of 5

Yin Yoga

Slow, restorative classes to support both body and mind — running weekly in Gullane.

Yin yoga works with the deep connective tissues rather than the muscles: poses are held for several minutes at a time, letting the body settle and release. It's quiet, it's unhurried, and it's a genuine antidote to a busy week.

Classes are open to all abilities and every pose can be adapted, whether you're on a mat or in a chair.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Practical, person-centred support to help you regain independence in daily life.

Occupational therapy starts with a simple question: what do you want to be able to do that you can't do easily right now? That might be getting in and out of the bath safely, returning to work after illness, managing fatigue through the day, or getting back to a hobby you've had to give up.

From there I assess what's getting in the way — physical, environmental, or practical — and we build a plan around it. That can include rehabilitation, equipment and adaptation recommendations, energy management, or changes to how a task is done.

I work with people living with long-term conditions, injury, disability, and the effects of illness and surgery. As someone who has lived with a long-term condition since I was thirteen, I understand what it's like when your world becomes smaller overnight.

Reiki Connect

Complementary energy therapy to support relaxation and wellbeing.

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that many people find deeply relaxing. I began my reiki training in 2019 and hold Reiki Master qualification. I often use it alongside occupational therapy goals rather than instead of them.
