Chair Based Movement & Meditation Classes
Introduction
This class is specifically designed for individuals who are ready to embark on a journey towards enhanced physical and emotional wellbeing. Drawing upon more than 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist, I have supported people with a wide range of physical and emotional challenges. As someone living with a long-term condition myself, I fully appreciate how such challenges can impact wellbeing on multiple levels.
Inclusivity and Adaptation
The classes aim to be inclusive and accessible for people of all abilities. Your unique needs will be thoroughly understood, and each session can be adapted to suit your individual physical requirements. Whether you prefer to take part on a mat or seated in a chair, you can be confident that the class will be tailored for you.
What is Movement & Meditation?
Movement & Meditation is a practice that blends gentle physical movements with mindfulness and breath awareness. Unlike traditional seated meditation, this approach incorporates slow, intentional movements—such as stretching, yoga-inspired poses, or rhythmic exercises—combined with meditative breathing and focused attention. The aim is to foster a strong mind-body connection, helping you to feel grounded, calm, and physically mobile all at once.
Core Principles
• Mindful Movement: Each movement is performed deliberately and in sync with your breath.
• Breath Awareness: Deep, rhythmic breathing helps to calm the nervous system.
• Present-Moment Focus: Attention remains on sensations, posture, and movement flow rather than external distractions.
• Adaptability: The practice can be adapted to suit individual needs , making it suitable for all mobility levels.

Yin Yoga Classes
Introduction
This class is specifically designed for individuals who are ready to embark on a journey towards enhanced physical and emotional wellbeing. Drawing upon more than 30 years of experience as an occupational therapist, I have supported people with a wide range of physical and emotional challenges. Yin yoga goes even further by allowing the body to rest and digest and then restore a balance we have lost due to our bust working lives whatever your work ay be.

Your unique needs will be thoroughly understood, and each session can be adapted to suit your individual physical requirements. What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that targets the deep connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, fascia, and joints, through long-held passive poses.
Yin Yoga focuses on stretching and strengthening the deeper, less active tissues of the body rather than the muscles, which are the focus of more dynamic (yang) yoga styles like Vinyasa or Ashtanga
Poses are typically held for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the connective tissues to gradually lengthen and improve flexibility and joint mobility
The practice emphasises stillness, mindfulness, and controlled breathing, helping practitioners connect with both their physical sensations and mental state
Physical Benefits:
Increases flexibility and range of motion in joints and connective tissues
Improves joint health and circulation by gently stressing and hydrating connective tissues
Enhances posture and releases tension in tight areas like hips, spine, and hamstrings
Mental and Emotional Benefits:
Reduces stress and anxiety by activating the parasympathetic nervous system
Promotes mindfulness and meditation, helping practitioners stay present
Encourages emotional release and resilience through sustained stillness and discomfort
